Sandia
Peak Aerial Tram Trail
miles from west terminus: 757
Among
the longest aerial tramways in the world, the Sandia Peak Aerial Tram offers a
fast, thrilling, and incredibly scenic trip between the Albuquerque city edge
and Sandia Crest, a 10,000+ foot elevation fault-block “Sky Island” which the
GET follows on its own more terrestrial journey toward the city. The GET is very
scenic as well as it descends over 4000 vertical feet in 9 miles toward the base
of the tramway. Yet the tram is certainly an option for those not interested in
such a climb or descent. In
essence, the tram connects the end of the GET at its eastern terminus with the
GET 9 miles away from this point. One-way and round-trip tickets can be purchased
online. (Base station entrance fee also charged for vehicles entering the property.
This includes accessing the GET east terminus / Tramway Trail.) Tram cars run
regularly throughout the day.
